Do you remember when the Smiths and Scientology were pushing for Jaden Smith to be the next big thing? He had the lead roles in The Karate Kid and After Earth, even receiving TOP billing over Will Smith and Jackie Chan. As you can imagine, it hasn’t quite worked out and Smith has long since become a running joke because of his fashion sense, pretentious tweets and bad acting.
It’s not all bad, though! He’s joining Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge)’s latest endeavour, which happens to a music-driven hip-hop themed series on Netflix that sounds slightly like Lee Daniel’s Empire, but set in the 70’s of America.
Smith will play the recurring character Marcus ‘Dizzee’ Kipling, a ‘psychedelically talented and enigmatic graffiti writer’ from the Bronx.
It all sounds so, so bad.
The Get Down becomes available on Netflix in 2016, and stars Jimmy Smits.
