Benicio del Toro In Talks for Star Wars: Episode VIII Villain Role
With the seventh instalment of the franchise to be released later in the year, pre-production for the eighth instalment of the science-fiction is in full steam ahead and the casting that comes with it. Our first casting news is that Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro, 48, is in negotiations with Disney for an antagonist role, presumably replacing (or starring alongside) Adam Driver.
Not much is known about the storylines of any of the upcoming Star Wars, but the films are casting predominantly younger, non-superstar famous actors for the protagonist and antagonist roles.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is due out in 2017, and sees Looper’s Rian Johnson directing and Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill return to the blockbuster series.
