Fans of Jonathan Nolan better be ready for his latest expansion into the world of science-fiction television – Westworld, based on the 1973 film of the same name, is coming to HBO in 2016.
The story revolves around a futuristic theme park in the west and features an all-star cast that includes Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandi Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood. I’ve been told Westworld has had a difficult production so far and the original pilot was considered ‘unsatisfactory’ by HBO standards, but their eagerness to maintain a good relationship with The Dark Knight scribe Jonathan Nolan meant they simply recast a select few roles, rewrote here and then and they’ll reshot some scenes of the pilot when they film the rest of the first season. It’s a very similar method they used successfully with Game of Thrones. If you weren’t already familiar with Person of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan (Christopher Nolan’s brother), the series is set to be very dark and gritty.
