Blind Item (24/05/2016)

This A-list actor is in negotiations to portray an iconic superhero. What’s blind item worthy about that? Well, our A-list actor has already portrayed a different iconic superhero. Fanboys will be warring over this casting choice and the studio are worrying about how to break the casting.

Who is he?

Who is he going to portray?

Who has he portrayed?

  1. I’m guessing this is DC, since the MCU and Fox have already scooped up all the Marvel heroes and I don’t know of any roles that are changing hands soon (Wolverine maybe? Too soon, I think). I certainly don’t think they are replacing Superman or Batman again, so I’m going with The Green Lantern. I think it’ll be one of the previous spidermen as Hal Jordan. What’s Tobey up to these days? If they decide to jump straight to John Stewart, then they are casting Terrence Howard aka War Machine 1.0. Either of those choices would send fans in a tizzy. FWIW I like Tobey’s spiderman better than the rest, so I’m glad to see him doing the superhero gig again.

They might also be recasting Wally West aka The Flash, but I was under the impression that they were copying the MCU by keeping characters and actors consistent between the TV show and films. Who knows, maybe not. Tobey would be a good Flash, too.

    • No DC isn’t keeping the actors the same between TV & movies. That could be changing now that the guy that’s been in charge of the TV side has been promoted to co-head of the movies. But since day one they’ve said both are separate. Ezra Miller has already been cast as the movie Flash, but the original director attached dropped out, so I’m not sure what’s happening with that.

      • My mistake, then. I suppose that leaves Green Arrow up for a recast in addition to the other green guy. DC is a mess. My top choice that almost fits the blind is Ray Stevenson aka Titus Pullo aka one of Thor’s sidekicks, but he’s not really A-list. Then again, is Green Arrow iconic? I’m going to have to think more on this one. I feel like we SHOULD be able to nail it. How many qualifying roles are left? How many qualifying actors? Not many.

  2. The way this is worded makes me think the actor is someone that people didn’t like in the first role they had. Like Ben Affleck when he was cast as Batman. Fanboys didn’t like Daredevil & thought it was a mistake to cast Ben as Batman, so this could be another situation like that. I know that Marvel cast Michael B Jordan who just played the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movie, so maybe this is Miles Teller casts as Green Lantern.

      • No, but I think there was a reveal on here not that long ago where someone I, or anyone would really consider A list. It’s not who we think is A list, but who The Gossip Life considers A list. But Miles was only a suggestion of the type of actor that this could be about. The way the blind is worded makes it sound like someone that wouldn’t go over well with fans. Christian Bale is pretty loved by fanboys so they would probably be happy to see him in any role. Andrew Garfield as Nightwing (Dick Grayson, the former sidekick of Batman.) I could see fanboys not fully accepting that since many didn’t like him as Spiderman.

      • TGL is industry-based and Teller is considered A list within the industry right now. With that being said, Fantastic Four may have changed that. He was a hot property for awhile.

    • Like I replied to Pete, Deadline Hollywood had a story about Michael joining the cast yesterday. Unless TGL didn’t see the story, I don’t think they would give a blind for something that’s already been announced.

      • @Scott Foster No, it definitely isn’t! I think I’ve even been reading things on Blind Gossip that were here first & even the Robbie Williams thing was on here naming him. Either that same day or the next day Blind Gossip ran a blind about it. Not really sure how Blind Gossip keeps getting people to visit their site.

  3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
    Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

What? it would be AMAZING ok. Goths have superheroes too..

Ok fine, I am way too lost on superhero casting nowadays. I don’t even know what roles are available. But JGL needs to be cast.

  4. So? Who cares. Ben Affleck played Dare Devil and Batman. Ryan Reynolds played Green Lantern, Dead Pool and an evil character in one of the XMen movies. They’re just actors…who cares. It’s their job, and they’ll look the part once they’re in their costumes.

  5. Just a thought, but if MCU wants Tom Hiddleston for more than one more run as Loki, and he’s still in the running for 007, that could cause a ruckus… (and yes I know I’m broadening the definition of superhero here)
