TGL Round-Up: Vikings Renewed, Star Wars Pushed Back, Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Son Arrested

Disney and Lucasfilm have pushed the release date of “Star Wars: Episode IX” from May 24, 2019 to Dec. 20, 2019.

The announcement comes shortly after the news broke that J.J. Abrams would replace  Colin Trevorrow as the director.

Variety reported that Disney had already been looking to push production from February to June and that the release date would likely move even after how quickly the studio found a replacement director.

Disney has replaced the film on the release schedule with the live-action film “Aladdin” directed by Guy Ritchie, which will now open on May 24.

Vikings has been renewed for a sixth series by History.

Series regular Katheryn Winnick will direct one of Season 6’s episodes, marking her directorial debut. Production on Season 6 begins this fall in Ireland.

Vikings series 5 premieres in November.

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s son was arrested on Sunday for allegedly holding his roommate at knifepoint , TMZ reports.

The report follows:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … 21-year-old Nicholas Van Varenberg was arrested Sunday in Tempe, AZ. We’re told cops got a call to check on him because he’d punched the elevator in his building. Cops say they found a trail of blood leading to his apartment, and after speaking to him and a roommate, discovered Nicholas injured his hand.

Officers left, but 20 minutes later, the roommate ran downstairs, claiming he’d escaped the apartment where Nicholas was holding him at knifepoint. He told officers Nicholas was pissed he’d opened the door for them.

Cops immediately searched the apartment, and say they found the knife and marijuana.
Nicholas was booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
