    • One of the most fascinating political assassinations in history. A socialist political organisation, not dissimilar to ISIS in their methods, called Narodnaya Volya and a sect of the group called Pervomartovtsy were responsible. They also attempted to assassinate Tsar Alexander II’s son, Alexander III, just six years later. Ironically Alexander II was one of the more liberal imperial rulers of Russia and Alexander III was one of the more conservative, so effectively the organisation killed a potential ally and facilitated the rise of a ruler completely opposed.
