Daily Blind Item — Retiring Legend
He’s a legendary actor and has the Academy Award attention to prove it, but you might have to prepare yourself for seeing less of him.
A source tells me the A list actor is planning on quietly retiring from appearing on screen and possibly staying in the industry via producing and potentially directing.
‘He wants to dedicate his time to stopping his kids from going haywire,’ jokes the source, who admits that the actor has been falling down the relevance ladder for sometime and knows it. ‘The physical demands have taken a toll and he’s not made of iron.”
So, tell me, Gossipers:
Who is our legendary actor?

This needs to be Robert De Niro.

Netflix’s The Irishman is going to bring back De Niro as a serious actor and destroy a lot of the ridicule.

Thanks for the goss, but I don’t think anyone thought he would stick to that. Hasn’t he claimed retirement before?

“Following The Boxer, Day-Lewis took a leave of absence from acting by going into “semi-retirement” and returning to his old passion of woodworking.”
Hope this helps.

Thought he made shoes in Italy or some jazz. Were they wooden clogs?

Maybe his love of clothe-making was triggered with this latest movie and that’s why he’s retired?

It sounded like he was just emotionally exhausted after filming Phantom Thread. It reminded me of how Daniel Craig reacts after he’s just filmed a Bond…

Robert Downey Jr. The joke about the kid is a clue because Downey’s son has had troubles with a heroin addiction. Another could be the mention of producing since Susan, Robert’s wife, is a prominent producer.

Ergh. That joke is so gross then

Yep. He’s not made of iron…Iron Man

Michael Douglas. There’s a mention of a kid going haywire and Douglas was in the movie Haywire. He has Academy Award attention in the form of his Oscar win for Wall Street. I think he’s gradually scaling back on acting from his filmography, anyway, because he hasn’t got anything coming up but the Ant-Man sequel…
