With the biggest show on television, Game of Thrones, ending early next year, there is going to be a huge gap in the market for epic fantasy and although many have attempted to capture the Thrones market in recent years, an industry expert tells us that it will be a much easier task when the show is actually off the air.
Well, one project is in the pre-production stage and has an advantage because they’re already got one of the Game of Thrones leads to star for a big, big payday.
‘It’s undignified of the actor,’ a source tells us. ‘It looks cheap and usually when an actor finishes a big run on a show or in a franchise, they don’t attempt to cash in on said brand by starring in a rip off.’
Apparently not our money-loving thespian.
So, tell me, Gossipers:
Who is our actor?
I hate when actors do this so much LOL

Melissa McCarthy is starring in a movie called Super Intelligence, which is like a cheap version of Spy. I don’t know why I expected better from a woman that agreed to star in the Ghostbusters reboot.

I can see legal problems arising between Fox and Warner Bros. if Super Intelligence is really as derivative as it sounds.

It’s clearly the smartest cast member. It’s not as if the ensemble is full of great actors that are going to be earning the big bucks for years. Get that money while you can!

If her performance as Jean Grey in X Men is any barometer of her acting talent outside of GOT, then we won’t be seeing her for much longer.

How can a show with a bunch of porn stars, young people and foreign locales have so little drama off-screen? Must be a lot more than meets the eyes!

That is gonna be fucking hilarious when it happens.

We need to break this down because it seems hard but it really isn’t. Season 8 reportedly has 19 main cast members and with the exception of 1 (Missandei) they’ve been with the show since Season 2. I can break that down further by saying Kit Harrington, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and Peter Dinklage are the only ones that I would call leads; the rest get main billing but are only supporting. Out of those options, who seems the most likely to cash in on the success?

In his defense… Because of his stature he is more limited than most. Plus, while it may sound morbid and while none of us know how long we are going to be here in this life, again, because of his stature he likely will not have a normal nor long lifespan. He is an actor and it’s about the acting. I consider him neither a money-grubber nor a sellout to the GOT series. Let him work.

Kit did that bad Pompei film which was a bit like Game of Thrones.

Solid analysis on the Game of Thrones audience opening up (definitely think your industry expert is petty producer). I know Amazon has their Lord of the Rings series coming and Netflix has The Witcher, but keep watching the BBC for the His Dark Materials series. That seems so relevant in the current political climate and could definitely resonate with a lot of people.

Liked Thrones. Not interested in any of those. Then again it took me a few years to get on the Thrones bandwagon.

His Dark Materials could definitely be similar to The Handmaid’s Tale in that sense…

SO excited for the Lord of the Rings adaptation. Hope they get back some of the original cast. It would be amazing to see Ian McKellen back in robes as Gandalf.

I think money-loving is the tip here, along with undignified. Lannisters love money and the undignified one was Lena Headey – shame, shame, shame. Plus she’s got an ex husband and a new bastard baby to support.

I cannot believe he went to the media and tried to pretend the divorce left him dissolute and on the streets, despite owning an apartment in London. So disgraceful, especially with the insane amount of people actually struggling to get by.
