Netflix has done us all a kindness and released the first trailer to The Punisher.
Notorious for being the focal point of two bad movies (one of which starred John Travolta of all people), the series is a reboot of The Punisher character who has already featured in the second series of Daredevil and seems much better handled.
It’s more of a teaser than a trailer, but it does give us our first look at the new superhero Netflix show and conforming to the grim, dark theme of fellow superhero Netflix shows.
Jon Bernthal plays the part and seems well cast. Ben Barnes and Deborah Ann Wolfe feature alongside a series of impressive visuals and stunning cinematography.
The Punisher will be released in full at some point in 2017.
Nerds have been salivating over the promise of footage of Thor: Ragnarok for awhile now and gearing up to release, Disney and Marvel are delivering.
In this full length trailer, all your hunky Thor favourites are back for the action with Chris Hemsworth returning as the titular character, as well as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Idris Elba and…Erm… Anthony Hopkins.
The dastardly Cate Blanchett makes her debut too, sporting the worst English accent you have ever heard. It seriously makes Dick Van Dyke’s cockney monstrosity seem like a mastery of the English lilt.
It isn’t an impressive trailer by a long shot. The visuals, which remain the strongest part of the franchise, come closest to earning a thumbs up from me, but Blanchett’s mess of an accent, the inconsistent comedy-drama-action tone and the heinous scene of Thor and Loki teaming up to shoot at the enemy with blast guns is enough to earn my ire alone.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Blanchett’s horrific approach? Or are you down on superhero movies?
