TGL Round-Up: Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Create New Show, Quincy Jones Awarded $9 Million From Michael Jackson Estate, Curb Your Enthusiasm Announces Guest Star

Showtime has ordered a Boston-focused pilot from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Based on an original idea by Affleck and Chuck MacLean (“Boston Strangler”), who wrote the script, “City on a Hill” is a fictional account of what was called the “Boston Miracle.”

The pilot will be directed by Gavin O’Connor (“The Accountant”), who will serve as executive producer along with James Mangold (“Logan”) and Jennifer Todd (“Memento”) of Pearl Street Films.

Quincy Jones was awarded $9.4 million by a Los Angeles jury Wednesday in a trial over royalties and production fees from the recordings he made with Michael Jackson, the Associated Press reported.

Jones had sought $30 million in his suit, which he filed in 2013. Michael Jackson’s estate had countered that the producer was owed $392,000.

The upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm has announced the stars guest starring.

Previous guest stars Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen will be returning and Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, Jimmy Kimmel, Ed Begley Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins are amongst the new guest stars on the show.

Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm will premiere on October 1st on HBO.

Blind Item Revealed — Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck

Although a divorced [sic] looked inevitable for an A-list couple several months ago, many sources in LA are now claiming that a reconciliation is more than likely. It isn’t quite Thunderbirds are go just yet, but watch. It’ll be a very interesting year and you just know that we here at The Gossip Life will be on the forefront of any developments.

Who are they?

Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck

Blind Item Posting: 03/08/16

The Story: Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck continue to fuel reconciliation rumours as they take kids to church together

Popular Guesses: Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck / Drew Barrymore

I understand this might be a strange blind item to reveal considering Garner and Affleck recently announced their intention to formally divorce, but the A list couple, who originally split in June 2015, reconciled for a period until ending their relationship for a final time in early 2017.

In mid 2016, TMZ reported all signs were pointing to a reconciliation and Garner even admitted in an interview at the time that their divorce was “a grey area.”

Our source insists the couple were content and reconciled until late 2016 / early 2017 when Affleck’s drinking became a problem and Garner finally decided to cut the tether.

Best Blind Item Reveals of 2017… So Far

We’re just over halfway through 2017 and the year has been a cracker for gossip so far with Johnny Depp finally getting rid of the lecherous Amber Heard, Jennifer Garner finally getting rid of the lecherous Ben Affleck and Sienna Miller suffering a rather humiliated naked picture of leak.

Thanks to your friends here at the Gossip Life the vast majority of these stories were whispered to you ahead of them breaking into the mainstream media.

In this post, we pat ourselves of the back (mostly Christina) and celebrate the best blind item reveals of 2017… so far.

5. Bill O’Reilly FIRED By Fox News

Fox News tried to tell you they were sticking by Bill O’Reilly, despite the countless accusations of sexual assault breaking into the mainstream media. We told you otherwise. Guess who was correct in the end?

4. Moonlight Wins Best Picture

La La Land was the favourite to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year and despite a horribly humiliating mishap (I still blame Faye Runaway) that saw La La Land originally handed the shiny statuette , Moonlight walked away from the event as the winner. Members of the Academy started talking to Christina well before the event and told her what the tee was.

3. Hillary Clinton Is Sick

Before the crazy adventure of the US Election of 2016 officially began, the Gossip Life posted a blind item detailing the poor health of a candidate. Fast forward a year or so later, Hillary Clinton’s health issues were well known and the Democratic nominee even publicly fainted after a 9/11 memorial.

2. Ben Affleck Hates Batman

Ben Affleck had only put on the Batsuit for one disappointing movie before Christina was informed Affleck wanted out of the role. Shortly after Christina posted the blind, the rumours hit the mainstream and Affleck promptly dropped out of directing the upcoming solo movie. No word on whether Affleck is still attached to portray the caped crusader in the future.

1. Sienna Miller’s Embarrassed Nude Leaks

Don’t pretend for moment you don’t remember this. I’m still trying to forget. A worthy winner!

TGL Round-Up: Ben Affleck Batman Script Abandoned, New Image of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, Lily James to Play Young Meryl Streep

New The Batman director Matt Reeves has abandoned Ben Affleck’s script for the upcoming movie.

Affleck’s script, which was written during the time he planned on directing the upcoming superhero movie, featured Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke as the villain to Affleck’s Batman.

“No [we won’t be using that], it’s a new story,” Reeves explained on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

A new image of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft has surfaced in Entertainment Weekly.

Vikander is shown rock-climbing in the iconic Lara Croft outfit.

Tomb Raider is released March 18, 2018.

Lily James will play a young Meryl Streep in the sequel to Mamma Mia!

Much of the original cast of the movie will return with Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan set to play their characters from the first movies.

The sequel will feature flashback scenes regarding the relationship between Streep, Brosnan and Colin Firth’s characters.

TGL Round-Up: True Blood Star Dies, Ben Affleck Dating Again, Billie Lourd Inherits Carrie Fisher’s Vast Wealth

Actor Nelsan Ellis passed away over the weekend at the age of 39.

Ellis, best known for portraying the flamboyantly gay Lafayette Reynolds on HBO’s True Blood opposite Anna Paquin, died of complications from heart failure, according to Variety.

True Blood creator Alan Ball told the Hollywood Reporter: “Nelsan was a singular talent whose creativity never ceased to amaze me. Working with him was a privilege.”

In lieu of flowers, the Hollywood Reporter says his family has asked that donations be made to the Jenesse Center or The Restoration Ministries Church of God and Christ.

11/04/2016 Box Office Round-Up

It’s been a mega weekend with an absolutely huge opening and several examples of good counter-scheduling. You can see our predictions for the weekend here.

The Boss

Budget: $29 M

Overall Box Office: $24.5 M

Domestic Box Office: $24.5 M

Weekend Box Office: $24.5 M

Our Prediction: $20 M

Comments: The Boss pulled off a great upset this weekend, when it usurped the big budgeted, superhero flick Batman v Superman and exceeded expectations by pulling in almost $5 million more than we expected. A great weekend for Melissa McCarthy.

Batman v Superman

Budget: $250 M

Overall Box Office: $785 M

Domestic Box Office: $296 M

Weekend Box Office: $23.14 M

Our Prediction: $22.5 M

Comments:Batman v Superman met our expectations, but still tumbled to second place to Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss. When it rains it pours, nowhere but down for the caper now.

Hardcore Henry

Budget: $10 M

Overall Box Office: $7.2 M

Domestic Box Office: $5 M

Weekend Box Office: $5 M

Our Prediction: $10 M

Comments: Ouch. A very bad weekend for Hardcore Henry, which failed to get anywhere near its target gross. What The Boss over earned this weekend, Hardcore Henry lost.

08/04/2016 Box Office Predictions

It’s Friday, Friday! Gotta get down on Friday! Time for our box office predictions going into the week-end. We have Melissa McCarthy’s The Boss debuting, as-well as the interesting case of Batman v Superman.

Batman v Superman

Budget: $250 M

Rotten Tomatoes: 29%

Current Box Office: $720 M

Domestic Box Office: $270 M

Weekend Box Office: $51 M

Box Office Prediction: $22.59 M

Comments: Batman v Superman had an awful drop-off last weekend, losing almost 70% of it’s debut week-end, a clear sign that audiences disliked the movie. We expect Batman v Superman to continue to drop, but it’ll still have enough the tank to reign supreme.

The Boss

Budget: $29 M

Rotten Tomatoes: 18%

Overall Box Office: N/A

Domestic Box Office: N/A

Weekend Box Office: N/A

Box Office Prediction: $20 M

Comments:It’s the debut weekend for Melissa McCarthy’s latest awful comedy film, in which, of course, she stars as an obese woman with 90% of the jokes aimed against her weight. It’ll take about $20 million as McCarthy’s star continues to fade. Decent, but the studio will want more, despite what they may say.

Hardcore Henry

Budget: $10 M

Rotten Tomatoes: 49%

Overall Box Office: N/A

Domestic Box Office: N/A

Weekend Box Office: N/A

Box Office Prediction: $10 M

Comments: Hardcore Henry is the most interesting prospect at the box office this weekend. I only expect the science-fiction action to pull in about $10 M, but that’ll cover its budget and mean Sharlto Copley won’t be too embarrassed by his participation. I expect it to resonate with a young male audience, which could mean it has a future as a cult flick, but based on the mixed reviews, I doubt it.

See you on Monday for the round-up!

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner Attending Church Together

The divorce may be off for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. The superstar couple are said to be in the midst of repairing old wounds after the highly controversial nannygate, even going as far as attending church together with their children as a family to collectively heal, according to a source close to the couple over at E! News. “On the weekends they spend a lot of family time together with outings to the farmers market and church,” the source says.

Affleck and Garner announced their long-rumoured separation in June after rumours of affairs and drug and alcohol abuse. “There was a lot of tension between them for a while, but it wasn’t all about the nanny,” the source expands to E! News.

Two months after the nannygate scandal initially broke, Garner, 43, is still trying to forgive Affleck, 43. “She is pleased the story has died down and her kids don’t have to hear about it,” the source says. “She really just wanted it to go away as fast as possible. Behind closed doors she is dealing with her own personal feelings and how to process what happened.”

Affleck and Garner have three children together and have been married since 2005.

“The less people know, the better!” says Matt Damon about gay actors in Hollywood

It’s not a statement you want accredited to you when there’s been rumours about your sexuality for decades, but asked about the aforementioned gay rumours, Matt Damon appeared to suggest that actors should keep quiet about their sexuality if they want to succeed in Hollywood. “The less people know, the better!” Damon told The Guardian.

Appearing on Ellen to clarify his statement, Damon denied that he was suggesting gay actors should stay in the closet to further their careers. ‘I was just trying to say actors are more effective when they’re a mystery,’ he told openly gay Ellen DeGeneres.

Damon has still come under attack for his remarks.
