Blind Item Revealed — Nicole Kidman

People are calling this Emmy race “one of the closest ever”, but my Emmy source (that spilled this delicious blind item) has sent me a cheeky little email stating otherwise.

‘It’s not as close as anybody thinks it will be,’ he says. ‘[name omitted] is cert to win. [gender omitted] hasn’t won before, so [they’ll] get it.’

So, tell me, Gossipers:

Who is our winner?

What is our race?

Blind Item Posting: 24/07/17

The Story: Nicole Kidman vs Jessica Lange Closest Emmy Race In Years

Popular Guesses: Nicole Kidman / Jessica Lange

Nicole Kidman vs Jessica Lange was called the closest Emmy race of the year by GoldDerby and The Gossip Life’s very own, Scott, but my Emmy source contacted me almost two months ago to tell me the blind item above.

Kidman ended up lifting the Emmy last night, beating Lange, Susan Sarandon, Carrie Coon and co-star Reese Witherspoon, even though she initially trailed Lange in the predictions for the award.

It’s Kidman’s first ever Emmy Award after 2 previous nominations. Lange is an Emmy favourite and has won 3 in the last 10 years.

TGL Round-Up: Disney Fire Episode 8 Director, Stars Set for Emmys Presenting Gigs, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Reunite

katy-perry-orlando-bloom-happening

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom were seen paddle boarding (with their clothes on, unlike their experience in August) at a beach in California on Labor Day weekend.

The celebrities split in March of 2017 after dating for 10 months, but have since been seen together a multiple times after their breakup with sources confirming to E! News that they are back together.

The couple was also seen at an Ed Sheeran concert on August 12th in LA.

Disney has announced that director Colin Trevorrow has stepped down from directing Star Wars: Episode IX.

On Tuesday, a statement on the Star Wars website said:

“Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process, but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.”

LucasFilm has now split with directors three times in the span of two years. The decision has been reported to be mutual and due to creative differences. Directors Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Josh Trank are directors that have left the franchise.

Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman, and Alec Baldwin have been set to present the September 17th Emmy Awards.

The Television Academy announced that Jason Bateman, Jessica Biel, and Reese Witherspoon are also set to present for the award show.

The Emmy Awards will be broadcast from LA at 8PM on CBS with Stephen Colbert as a host.

Nicole Kidman vs Jessica Lange Closest Emmy Race In Years

splash_dramaactressrt-thr

The Primetime Emmy Awards take place on September 17, 2017, but the analysis and estimations of the award show are already well underway with GoldDerby selecting the likely nominees and likely winners on their predictions site.

Netflix’s The Crown is fully expected to win Best Drama Series while Veep is the favourite for comedy, but it’s the acting categories where the stakes get higher and a lot more competitive.

According to the experts on GoldDerby, Best Drama Actress is a three way battle between Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaiden’s Tale, The American’s Keri Russell and The Crown’s Claire Foy. Moss is the likely winning although Foy has supporters on her side too.

It’s the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie where the category is absolutely staked, though with FX’s Feud fighting it out with HBO’s Big Little Lies.

Jessica Lange, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Susan Sarandon all compete for the prestigious award with Lange having a slight advantage (10 GoldDerby supporters) going into the nominations announcement.

Kidman is by far the closest competition, trailing Lange narrowly with 9 GoldDerby supporters. With Kidman’s co-star Reese Witherspoon also being in with a shout, GoldDerby speculate Witherspoon could split the votes and cost her Aussie friend, but admit Sarandon could do the same to her Feud co-star Lange.

Lange has been richly awarded by the Emmys in the past, winning 3 in the past 8 years. Kidman, Sarandon and Witherspoon have yet to win a single Emmy despite several nominations between. GoldDerby speculate that could serve Kidman well with Emmy members deciding Lange has already won enough.

Primetime Emmy nominations are announced July 13.

Game of Thrones Wins Best Drama at the Emmys

jonhamm

It’s one of the biggest upsets of the year, but fans of Game of Thrones won’t be too unhappy. The HBO fantasy series scooped the gong for Outstanding Drama Series over the favoured Mad Men at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards. It wasn’t all bad for the period drama, though, as seven-time nominee Jon Hamm finally took home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award.

Other winners include Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage, who secured Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for a second time, and Viola Davis, who is the first black actress to win the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Game of Thrones took home the most gold with a record 12 awards. See the full list of winners and losers here.
