She’s an Academy Award-nominated actress and a regular on one of the biggest shows on the world, but even Gabourey Sidibe isn’t immune to attacks from the internet. Users of the social media site Twitter have viciously attacked Sidibe, 32, for a love scene that she performed on the Fox drama Empire, criticising her weight.
Sidibe’s character Becky, the assistant to the main character, enjoyed a romantic liaison with rapper MC J Poppa, portrayed by actor Mo McRae, 33.
In a blog regarding the episode for Entertainment Weekly, Sidibe fired back at the Twitter critics saying ‘I felt sexy and beautiful and like I was doing a good job.’
Some production members are worried about how the second season of this hit TV show will turn out. A few of the cast members have been very vocal with their criticism of the writing and there’s been a whole lot of politics regarding certain changes. It certainly has all the ingredients for a recipe of disaster.
What is our hit TV show?

I only published the blind a couple of days ago, but The Hollywood Reporter have already forced me to reveal it with their expose on the second season: “With outsized success, however, comes outsized expectations and no shortage of backstage drama: Howard’s personal travails have turned him into a gossip-world pinata, Daniels has occasionally flexed his creative authority beyond the comfort zone of the network, and there are lingering concerns that too many big-name guest stars (Chris Rock, Mariah Carey, Rosie O’Donnell, the list goes on) could overwhelm the second season.”
There’s so much here that The Hollywood Report isn’t (or can’t) mentioning, but I’ll just hint with drugs, salary and affairs. The biggest drama on Empire this season is backstage.
Forbes has finally released its Highest Paid TV Actress list for 2015 and the list has delivered no surprises. Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara has tied for first spot with Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, both earning a reported $28.5 million dollars (including endorsements & acting salaries).
Vergara has topped the list for the last several years. Expect Empire’s Taraji P. Henson, Game of Throne’s Emilia Clarke and House of Card’s Robin Wright to join the higher part of the list next year.
- Sofia Vergara & Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting – $28.5 million
- Julie Bowen – $12 million
- Ellen Pompeo – $11.5 million
- Mariska Hargitay – $11 million
- Julianna Margulies & Amy Poehler – $10.5 million

There’ll be less Luscious Lyons in the second season of Empire, according to Page Six. Fox’s freshman drama will ‘scale back’ on the anti-hero and Taraji P. Henson’s role as Cookie will be pushed to the forefront.
The reason for the Terrence Howard reduction is simply his messy private life, alleges the source. Howard has been plagued by rumours of domestic abuse, affairs and is currently involved in a bitter divorce battle with his ex-wife.
Fox have denied Page Six’s in a statement: ““Rumors that Terrence’s role in ‘Empire’ will be scaled back are patently untrue.”
Empire returns in September for its second season.
